Captain America: The First Avenger 2011 Movie Review

After watching Captain America for the first time, I was completely amazed by how good it was. Honestly when they announced Captain America was being released, I was not thrilled or excited at all. Everybody who knows about Captain America knows that he does not have any flashy super hero powers. Because he is not as flashy like a Thor or Iron Man, many doubts (including my own) was made about the success of the movie. Would this movie be a super hit or a super fail?

To answer that question it was a super hit. Captain America was almost leaning more towards being a patriotic movie for America and what it means to be a dedicated soldier fighting for a bigger cause. Not fighting for himself but fighting to protect his country, his people and the world. Steve Rogers started out as just a simple guy who was well under developed and less fit for a soldier. After being nearly rejected each and every time, Steve Rogers did not give up on his pursuit to becoming a soldier, even if it meant doing ‘any’ task that the army gave him.

Steve Rogers has a best friend named Bucky who plays a very important role in this movie also for the entire Captain America series. Before Steve Rogers gets introduced to the very 1st super serum, you as the viewer get to sit back and relax as the story unfolds. Steve shows us why he was fit to be selected as a Super Soldier and why he was different from the rest. One of the main reasons why he was fit for the task is because he was willing to lay his own life on the line. His heart and soul was all in it to win it.

This movie paid homage to his original outfit and didn’t make it seem corny or too much. Everything in this movie was just great. The villain was none other than the Red Skull leader of the Hydra Army, a sub military division of Hitler during WWII. In this movie we are introduced to the Cosmic Cube for the 1st time and of its origins. The Red Skull used the power of the Cosmic Cube to create a superior army that would eventually over throw Hitler and take over the world. Like I said earlier, this movie is not flashy of any kind but as a story driven military flick, Captain America does wonders.

I give this movie a 9/10. With a great origin story and a lot of battlefield action, this movie is a must see and a great addition to add in your super hero collection. The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier are both out now on Blu-Ray and DVD.
